Day 5

Today I started my day off much like the other days with a nice run followed by a workout. After my workout I headed to the training room before lunch to work on my weekly blog. We all headed to lunch only to return an hour later. Once back in the training room we had extra time to learn how to wrap more. Kelly taught us how to wrap an achilles and we were able to practice on the people that were wondering around the training room. Much like the first time i taped an ankle I had a very hard time but then was able to catch on. We then were taught how to wrap a wrist and ace wrap someones shoulder. We finished taping and the filled up the waters for practices and were off to our own practices.
After practice I sat with Kelly and watched the boys lacrosse game. When the game was finished my job was to go over to the visiting boys teams bench and ask everyone if they needed any ice. I was VERY nervous because I had never wrapped ice on anyone before and there were A LOT of people who needed ice. Luckily only one person wanted theirs wrapped on and the rest just wanted a bag to carry and use on their own. When everyone cleared off the fields Kelly and I went around collecting water jugs, bringing them back to the trainers and drying them out. I got my most hours today and now with the week coming to an end I have a good understanding of what the day of an athletic trainer looks like!
